Over Three Decades of Front-Line
C-Level Career Perspective Form the Strong Foundation
for Hillview's Consulting and Coaching Models and Methods
Hello and Welcome to Clients, Prospects, Reporters, Prospective Partners, and other Seekers of Strategic
Alignment:
While
serving as President of five earlier companies, then I might have resisted Hillview’s sound logic for bringing in outside
alignment specialists to validate my teams and I were measurably aligned and moving forward. Yes, I would
have been wrong to avoid this thinking.
Imagine a table with 10 people meeting to hear the leader
explain a new plan. There are detailed handouts, charts, graphs, slides and other exhibits.
Heads nod in assent, copious notes are taken, cogent questions are asked, considered responses are given, and discussion
is robust. The meeting ends with a sense everyone is on parallel tracks — per Plan
— and
about to move forward. Are 11 individuals fully aligned?
Did some percentage of participants miss the leader’s specifically stated alignment imperatives? Highly likely. What percentage of the group “got it” and how
many did not? Among the 11 individuals at table, even one or two out of alignment adds unacceptable risk
to Plan. More c-level executives and other team leaders are admitting and addressing likelihood of misalignment among key
individuals. Do you?
Leaders and managers want
and need to believe they and their teams are fully aligned. Analytically the odds are not
in our favor. I learned too many expensive lessons about dire consequences of misalignment.
Indeed misalignment of people and other resources creates
real risks. Often it takes glaring failure to open our eyes to misalignment present and unaccounted for
at earlier stages of an ill-fated team initiative.
Missed
deadlines, project failures, organizational set-backs, and career catastrophes can be attributed to previously undetected
or ignored misalignment. Bankruptcies, business closings, downsizings, and other types of failure can be
traced to misalignment. With Hillview’s models, risks of misalignment are reversed — in
favor of sustainable alignment.
Hillview will support your efforts in defining, assigning,
refining, measuring and sustaining essential strategic situational alignment.
Aligning
your specific needs with Hillview’s methodology and applied technology requires discussion.
Today,
please call me to schedule an exploratory briefing. I look forward to meeting with you. Thank
you.
